Yoga for Strength Challenge - Day #6

 
Hey Yogi,

Welcome to Day #6 of your Yoga for Strength Challenge!

The theme for Day 6 is: Core Strength!

In this class, we'll be working the core muscles: abdominals (six-pack muscles)and obliques (they are located on the sides of the abdominals)

Quick tip: When using your core muscles, you are also using your lower back muscles so be aware of how your lower back is feeling throughout challenging core exercises. You don’t want to experience any pain in the lower back so make sure the lower part of your back stays connected to the mat during core work. That may mean that you don’t lower your legs all the way to the ground. A general rule is, only go as far as you can without the lower back being compromised. Over time your core will get stronger and you will notice you can push it a little further. To help keep the back to the earth you can try lightly curling the tailbone up (so it’s slightly lifted off the ground) and actively pressing your lower back to the earth.
